#Write31Days

I’m a day late and a dollar short.  My friend Sara invited me to #Write31Days but I just learned about this challenge today.  For the rest of the month of October I am going to try to blog daily just to get in the habit of writing and not being too perfectionistic to post. My topic?  I’m writing about spiritual formation and discipleship.

Today our women’s bible study began the book/video series Gripped by the Greatness of God by James MacDonald.  As I began to hear what MacDonald had to say, I realized this study may address the heart of what I most want to communicate to others.  He said, “The longing of every human heart is to be Gripped by the Greatness of God.”  This is not a new concept to me, but the thought of being gripped really did ‘take hold’ of me.  You see, a few years ago God gripped me so firmly and lovingly that I have not been able to escape, and it’s the best thing that ever happened to me!  I love it that I am in His hand and kept safe there.  He says in James 4:8, “Draw near to me and I will draw near to you.”  I have found this to be exquisitely true.  The closer I come to Him, the better I understand Him and the more sure I am of His presence.

So today, and for the next few days, I want to write about drawing near and letting Him form and inform us.  My prayer is that you will draw near to Him in a renewed way.
