Follow Me There

This week I’ve been awestruck while preparing to lead a discussion about God’s nature.  There are many things about Him that are beyond description, but today I was truly taken with the fact that He is as a shelter for all who take refuge in Him. He loves us enough to be there for us without fail.  Read Psalm 91 to hear about the way God shelters us.

Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.                                      Psalm 91:1

He loves us, and He wants us to come to Him.  He promises to be there.
So, what is it that bothers you?  What would you like to escape for a little while?  I invite you to come with me to a place where you can get to know God and His greatness.  A place where you can find perspective.  A place where you can find some shelter.

You need a place where you can find some shelter
Follow me there, follow me there
You want a hand to hold, someone to help you
Follow me there, come on, follow me there

Where love, like a river, flows
Peace like you’ve never known
And joy never ending lives
A place where faith can find
Hope that will never die
Follow me there, come on, follow me there

You need a place to be your sanctuary
Follow me there, come on, follow me there
Where you can lay down all those burdens you carry
Follow me there, come on, follow me there

Where the lost can find salvation
And the lonely finds a friend
Where the sinner finds forgiveness
Won’t you follow me there
Won’t you follow me there

*There is a reference in the song to Sarah Palin and the State of Alaska because the song was used on a TV show about the beautiful state of Alaska.  It has no significance to the writing or meaning of the song.

Following are pictures of my favorite hike of Roger’s and my 25th anniversary trip this summer. This is Gem Lake, just outside of Estes Park Colorado.  It’s an absolutely breathtaking surprise at the top of a 1000′ ascent.  This tiny lake (it’s about a half acre) has everything:  A beach, wildlife, climbing cliffs, and a spot in the shade of the Rock.

I really can’t describe the beauty here.  That’s also how I feel about God as I learn to see Him more clearly.  Wouldn’t you like to Follow Me there?
